In the upper third of the plate the signs EUR (in oval) and DB (in emblem) are embossed.
EUR-pallets produced in the field of responsibility of other railways are marked with the railway signs as follows:

- Below, a seven or eight digit Y-code is put on with stencils and black paint.
- The letter Y must be embossed.
- Every Y-code is granted by EPAL only once.
Regulations for repair:
- Faded Y-codes on box pallets to repair must be newly put on with (stencils and) black paint.
- Every Y-code is granted by EPAL only once. EPAL grants special numerical series for the repair to enable a better identification of forgeries or improper repairs.

- If the inspection is positive a forgery-safe golden EPAL-control seal is stuck on a pit next to the Y-code.
Regulations for repair:
- As a sign of a proper repair a green EPAL-seal with the licence code of the repairer is stuck on the pit instead of the golden EPAL-seal.

- Next to it on the right the name and registered office of the manufacturer must be mentioned – both in details if desired.
- As an alternative the licence code of the manufacturer can be embossed there.
