- Next to it is the abbreviation „D“ for Germany. As the DB licence is granted to foreign countries as well, there can be also other abbreviations instead of the D as e.g.:

The EPAL-control staple is placed under the country abbreviation on one central block of the longitudinal side.
The edges of the EPAL-control staple are either of red, blue or green colour. |

Below there is a column of figures:
- The first three figures show the licence number of the approved manufacturer.
- The figure in the middle shows the year of production.
- The last two figures show the production month.

Regulations for repair: |

- If a central block is replaced for repair it has no marking any more. As a sign of proper repair the repairing nail is driven into one central block of the longitudinal side.

- On the nail head of the repairing nail there is at the top the abbreviation of the country where the repair was done, here: D = Germany
Under the abbreviation there is the sign EPAL (in oval).
At the bottom there is the licence code of the repairer who is liable for the respective repair in the scope of product liability.
